Californian Mexican Mmmm...

On Wednesday night a group of us went to the local Mexican restaurant 'Fiesta Del Mar' to party with the 'buddies' we've been teamed up with.


Evan is my buddy. Not only do we rock the foosball table but we can both pull stupid faces in photos too!


I ordered 'Drunken Beef Fajitas'. They weren't quite as good as the nachos from the Mexican extravaganza on Sunday night, but they were good nonetheless. Fiesta Del Mar definitely keep with the American tradition of monstrous servings. Both plates are mine. :) I like America. :)


The Mexican was washed down with some good Margaritas. :)

Get Naked

The free food at Google is generally very healthy and in keeping with that theme, there are fridges around the campus that hold what is officially my favourite juice ever - Naked Juice!


Here is the local fridge in the building I'm in - 1400 Crittenden. Note it is chock full of fruit juice goodness first thing in the morning. :D

Here is a large fridge in building 43 towards the end of the day. Lots of healthy Googlers are now all juiced up!

These are my 3 favourite Naked Juices in order of preference. I have Green Machine every morning with my muesli, Carrot with lunch and I tend to mix the 3rd one up a little, but Power-C generally keeps me powering on. Mighty Mango is another favourite.


Green Machine creates a bit of controversy around the building. There is the camp that I'm in who believe Green Machine is genius in a bottle, then there are those who claim, 'This tastes like *insert inappropriate expletive here*". I reckon it tastes awesome and with blue green algae, wheat grass, spirulina, broccoli plus lots of other great stuff inside, I can party on safe in the knowledge that my body is fortified with Naked goodness.

Mexican Glorious Mexican

Sunday night Jodie and I headed to Vive Sol in Mountain View to have Mexican with Bea (Mike Knapp's girlfriend) and Christina. I'd met them both a month or so back but Jodie hadn't, so it was great to catch up with them!


It appears I didn't take many photos, however aside from the shot of the 4 of us, this is the next most important one, my nachos. I love nachos and these were wicked nachos. Note the huge clumps of guacamole, shredded chicken (mmmm), cheese, sour cream and refried beans. Food in Australia is generally very good, but we need to be closer to Mexico or something cause they have great Mexican in California. :)

Giants v Dodgers

On Saturday we headed to AT&T Park to see the San Francisco Giants take on the LA Dodgers in a game of baseball.

It's an amazing stadium! We had seats behind the home plate and had an amazing view of the San Francisco Bay while watching baseball, awesome!








Logan brought his glove in case there were any fly balls.


Jess brought beer in case she started to get sober.

Carl's

Friday night we headed to Carl's for some post work week drinks.


Carl had brewed up some seriously good beer and Friday was the grand unveiling. Carl's beer goes well with pizza as he showed us.


Chris was still in town and enjoyed a Carl brew or three.


As did we all.




I was excited to see Carl's own brand of recycling. He uses an old microwave as a bedside table!


And rather than creating waste by buying sheets and blankets, Carl simply uses a sleeping bag on his bed! Good on ya Carl!


We made sure there we plenty of empties for Carl's next batch. :)


Carl and I share a desire to create controversial and inappropriate websites. While I delve into the world of online dating for attractive people only, Carl has Bang Badges.

Salsa Dancing

Last Thursday night Andrew Bentley (he has Fox grandparents so we decided we're cousins) organised a night of Salsa dancing in San Francisco.

Jodie was already in the city so Jess and I jumped on a Google shuttle to take us there.

Google provide these shuttles (for free) to pick up and drop off Googlers from all over the San Francisco bay area. This is not the best photo of the shuttle, I'll have to get another one, but I thought they would just be like standard buses. This is Google, so of course they aren't. They look like a giant limo and come kitted out with reclining leather seats, tables and wireless internet access!


The whole shuttle experience was a little exciting for me.

and ate some dinner we'd picked up from Charlie's cafe (to be reviewed).


We arrived for a Salsa dancing lesson.


My salsa dancing skills left a little to be desired, so this French dude muscled in on my turf and salsa'd with Jodie.


That was cool though, cause my mate from High School, Chris Chan was in town from New York so we sat down and caught up.

Cafe 7 (again!)

Cafe 7 rocked last week and we'd heard they were doing some Kazakhstani food in honour of the great Borat, so we couldn't resist and went there again!

A few ppl have asked, 'so are these cafes in your blog the Google free food we hear about?' - Yes. My Supercheap Auto colleagues will no doubt recount stories of my excitement when another department would have pizza for lunch and they'd call me up cause they had a few half eaten slices left over! Needless to say I'm finding this Google food experience quite exciting!

My meal looks like a disaster here cause I forgot to photograph it until I was halfway through. Top left you can kind of see the awesome Kazakhstani fish cakes, top right is a small remaining piece of Uzbeki lamb stew (this rocked). In the foreground is some vegetable pizza and some other things I can't remember now. They tasted great though!
